TV actor Alok Nath, who is known for playing stereotypical roles of an Indian father on screen and also is famous for his ‘sanskaari’ image has been accused of rape by ‘Tara’ producer Vinita Nanda. She accused the veteran actor of sexually violating her almost two decades ago when she was returning from a party at Alok’s house at 2 am in the night. She also alleged that in the party her drinks were mixed.
The writer-producer said she was violated endlessly by “this man who was driving his own car and he asked me to sit in it and said he would drop me home.”
She further went on to narrate the incident:
“I can remember more liquor being poured into my mouth and I remember being violated endlessly. When I woke up the next afternoon, I was in pain. I hadn’t just been raped, I was taken to my own house and had been brutalised. I couldn’t get up for my bed. I told some of my friends but everybody advised me to forget about it and move on.”
Now, actor Alok Nath has finally spoken up on the issue and denied the allegations against him. Speaking to ABP, Nath claimed that he was not the person behind the act. According to The Indian Express, he added that there must be someone else who committed the crime.
“Neither I am denying this nor do I would agree with it. It (rape) must have happened, but someone else would have done it. Well, I do not want to talk much about it as for the matter if it has come out, it will be stretched.”
Supporting the writer-producer, CINTAA general secretary Sushant Singh said a show-cause notice will be sent to Nath. He has also urged Nanda to file a complaint against “this vile creature”.
It would be interesting to see how Vinita Nanda reacts to Alok’s comments. But what really needs to be taken care of is the mentality of people in our country who are nothing less than a shame.
