Lionel Messi wears ribbon given by reporters mom in Argentina win, stuns him completely
The World Cup did not particularly start well for Lionel Messi and Argentina. Argentina, after managing just a point from their first two games were in deep trouble and it looked like the two-time world champions would fail to navigate out of the group stages.
But Lionel Messi and co. stepped up in the third game against Nigeria and secured their place in the knockout stages with a 2-1 victory over the Super Eagles. Lionel Messi scored arguably the goal of the tournament in the match and successfully silenced his critics. Apart from winning hearts by his display on the pitch, one of the Argentine wonder boy’s gestures off the pitch took social media by storm.
After Argentina’s draw with Iceland, a reporter told the GOAT that his mother had given him a red ribbon as a lucky charm and he would like to give it to Messi if the genius wanted it.
On 26th June, after Argentina’s emphatic win over Nigeria, the reporter asked Messi if he remembers receiving the red ribbon from his mother. And Messi showed him that he was wearing the ribbon on his foot.

Messi just proved that he is not only the greatest to have ever stepped onto the pitch but is also a lovable human being. His left foot does not depend on any ribbon to find the net but yet he chose to wear it. That’s Lionel Messi for you!
