Left-handed Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir was purchased by the Delhi Daredevils for an amount of Rs. 2.80 crores in the Indian Premier League auction 2018. The southpaw who was the skipper of the Kolkata Knight Riders in the previous season is leading his hometown Delhi, this time around.
Gautam Gambhir had a fairytale run for the Kolkata Knight Riders during his time and has tasted the ultimate success of lifting the IPL Trophy twice.
The batsman has been a brilliant server of the lucrative league and has proved to be a shrewd leader throughout. Kolkata Knight Riders owner Shah Rukh Khan shares a special bond with the World Cup-winning cricketer but chose to retain two West Indians in the name of Andre Russell and Sunil Narine before the 2018 auctions.
However, Gautam Gambhir marked his return to the Eden Gardens today with his team Delhi Daredevils taking on the Kolkata Knight Riders in Kolkata. Gambhir too felt the dose of nostalgia on his return and tweeted a heartfelt message that is sure to make you emotional.
In his tweet, Gambhir mentioned that the Kolkata air felt incredibly familiar to he was back among known faces. Here is a look at the Delhi skippers tweet:
The air smells familiar, faces look friendly, from ‘Gauti paaji’ all of a sudden I’ve become ‘Gautam Da’…..am I at my erstwhile home? @DelhiDaredevils @ipl @bcci #DilDilli #Dhadkega pic.twitter.com/WiAvZaYeEe
