The entire country is numbed by the brutal rape of 8-years old Asifa. The gory details of the abduction, rape, and murder of this innocent child send chills down our spines. It makes every woman in our country feel unsafe and really makes us wonder the future of humanity in our country. What’s more obnoxious was the ‘motive’ behind this disgusting crime, which was to drive out the shepherding communities in Jammu.
Every Indian citizen is now furious and many have gathered on the streets to demand rape protection laws and Justice for Asifa. The movement has garnered the support from many in the Bollywood industry as well. They have joined various rallies and have used social media as a platform to express their revulsion and support the deceased. Akshay Kumar, Richa Chadda, Farhan Akhtar, Kalki Koechlin are just some of the many celebs that have spoken up about the cause.
Joining the outrage, Sonam Kapoor also tweeted the following, on 12th April condemning the ‘fake nationals’:
Ashamed appalled and disgusted by fake nationals and fake Hindus. I cannot believe this is happening in my country. https://t.co/V8tKoo6viX

On 13th of April, the actress posted a photo of her in which she is holding the placard that many others in the industry held too :

However, actress Koena Mitra seemed to disagree with her comment and slammed her for blaming the entire religion for the rape case. She also expressed her concern about how only some cases, like Asifa’s, come to limelight and numerous other cases are buried deep under, and also how people’s rage is limited to these cases which are able to gather the required attention.
When the entire entertainment industry stood in to support the eight-year-old victim from Kathua, Koena Mitra bashed Sonam for her tweet and asked her some questions. In her tweet, she said:
Any comments @sonamakapoor? You condemded a heinous crime(I appreciate) but gave it a communal twist "Fake Hindus " .
Kindly do the same for all . How can you blame an entire religion for this Rape.
These victims are ours too! 👇#justiceForAll 😊 pic.twitter.com/8tFtLWT1tL

Though Koena appreciates the support that Sonam has lent, she questions the accuracy of her statement. She puts some other cases in front of the netizens and demands justice for all of them.
