Women’s and children’s rights is one the major social issues in not only our country, but also the world today.
The question that many of us may come up with is ‘What is the superstar doing amidst all the world, political and business leaders?’
Fret not. Here’s your answer:
Shah Rukh Khan was presented the award for ‘his leadership in championing children’s and women’s rights in India‘.
Amongst the huge list of attendees, of World Economic Forum, held in the small Swiss ski-town of Davos, a name that many may not have anticipated to see, was Shah Rukh Khan.
The Bollywood Superstar is being awarded with the 24th Annual Crystal Awards, as part of the 48th World Economic Forum. The other awardees are Elton John, an English singer, pianist, and composer and Cate Blanchett, (Catherine Elise Blanchett) an Australian actress and theatre director.
Shah Rukh Khan received this award for his work towards women and children’s rights in India.
Shah Rukh Khan also addressed a session called An Insight, an Idea with Shah Rukh Khan. He then talked extensively about his social initiative, which he has named after his father, and the reason for the same. He addressed issues of women empowerment in that session as well.
“Extremely charged that I’ve had this amazing opportunity, this award, being recognised like this for minuscule work that I did, I’d like to do it with even more fervour. What is even more pleasant is that India is here in full power.”, said Shah Rukh Khan, expressing his gratitude.
Khan, as we all know it, rules the kingdom of wit. He was at his wittiest best when he asked actress Cate Blanchett, who was honoured with the award just before him — for being the queen of billions of hearts, (including his own) for a selfie and quipped immediately that it may deeply embarrass his children, letting the audience delve into cackles of laughter.
Shah Rukh Khan with British musician Elton John, Australian actress Cate Blanchett, Hilde Schwab, Chairwoman and Co-Founder of the World Economic Forum’s World Arts Forum, and WEF founder Klaus Schwab, from left, await the ceremony for the Crystal Awards on the eve of annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
The Superstar also thanked his late mother, his wife and daughter for incessantly inspiring him.
King Khan, after thanking the World Economic Forum for the award, concluded his speech with ‘Namaskar‘ and ‘Jai Hind‘
Earlier on Monday, he also posed in his signature open arm style right after reaching Davos.
