Those who follow football are no stranger to the name, Tim Cahill. An Aussie legend and a lethal forward, Tim Cahill is a prolific finisher with a tremendous appetite for goals. The 38-year-old has had an illustrious career where he has scored 168 goals in 694 club appearances. The Aussie, who still has a lot left in his tank, has now been roped in by Indian Super league team Jamshedpur FC and will feature in the 2018/19 season of the same.
Now, coming to India, a country which is largely dominated by the game of cricket, Cahill proved that he has a fair idea about the same. In an event in Kolkata on 22nd September he spoke about his favourite cricketers and the reason why he loves them. And the two names the Aussie legend picked are quite obvious as they are Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli.
As reported by India.com, Cahill said:
“I love cricket. My all-time favourite is Sachin Tendulkar, without a shadow of a doubt. But now, it is obviously Virat Kohli because I love his background story of how he has achieved what he is today”
According to the former Everton man, Kohli has set an example for people both on and off the field. Showering praise on the current Indian skipper he continued:
“He works hard, he is humble, he sacrificed a lot and is very committed. But I also like the way he tends to give back so much to the Indian people off the park, both emotionally and charitably. So I follow him on the social networks. He is a good example.”
It is really good to see our Indian stars have such great fan following from all over the world and this certainly portrays the progress we have made as a nation as far as cricket is concerned. Good going boys!
