Yesterday, 6th September 2018 stands for a historic day in Indian history. The Supreme Court of India ruled out the Section 377 of the Indian Penal code, which criminalized homosexuality. To cut it short, the verdict made ‘consensual gay sex’ legal in the country.
However, just a day after the iconic judgment, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has come up with a statement against the order.
According to Deccan Chronicle, the 78-year-old Rajya Sabha member stated that the verdict will soon lead to the openings of gay bars in the country which will further go on to spread HIV.
“It is the American game. Soon there will be gay bars here where homosexuals can go. HIV will spread.”
He also added that it is like a genetic disorder just like someone who has six fingers. Medical research should be done to rectify homosexuality if Swamy’s statements are to be considered.
