Indian cricket has produced numerous great cricketers over the years and Mahendra Singh Dhoni is definitely one of them. He is the most decorated captain the country has ever seen and his batting techniques are also well appreciated all over the world. Cricket lovers go crazy on hearing his name and whatever he does become a subject of public interest in no time.
We are no strangers to the fact that Dhoni, who guided Indi to their second World Cup win in the year 2011, is a very calm and composed man on the field.
But there are some things we do not know about the cricketer and that includes his staying away from mobile phones. While all his teammates are fond of gadgets and often seem glued to the same, Dhoni likes to enjoy his alone time maintaining a distance from his phone.
There are a lot of cricketers who have claimed that Dhoni is hard to get in touch with over the phone. Clearing all the doubts Dhoni once said:
“Me and technology, there is a big divide. I don’t use phones so much and there are lot of stories I don’t pick up phones.”
“But I do use technology as well. When I am shown some videos, you wonder if I am playing it right. Technology has to be used in right way.”
Dhoni’s habit of staying away from phones was the reason why he could not attend VVS Laxman’s retirement bash which raised a lot of eyeballs. Dhoni said:
“You think it’s a controversy but people who know me always complained that I’m someone who is quite difficult to get hold of. That was one of the reasons why Laxmanbhai could not get hold of me.”
“That’s not something new. I have tried to improve but it seems I have not really improved.”
On the work front, the World Cup-winning skipper will be next seen in action in the 2018 Asia Cup which is scheduled to get underway from 15th September in United Arab Emirates (UAE).
