The FIFA World Cup is all set to get underway in two days and we cannot wait for the action to start. 32 teams will battle it out for the ultimate prize in football and in the end, it will come down to just one team who will be declared as the World champions. We all are excited about the mega event and we all want to know who will be the winner.
There are a lot of predictions going on around the world and financial firm Goldman Sachs has already predicted the winner.
Going by their calculations and simulations, Brazil, France, Portugal and Germany will reach the semi-finals. And it would then come down to Brazil and Germany in the finals. According to their prediction, Brazil will be the winners of the 2018 FIFA World Cup beating Joachim Low’s men in the final.
All these predictions have been made on the basis of player data, feeding team characteristics and performance information. 4 machine learning models were used for analysis of data. Data and scores of all European Cup Matches and World Cup matches were taken into consideration. 100 simulations of outcomes were run after the data was collected to come up with the final prediction.
Goldman wrote in the prediction report:
“We capture the stochastic nature of the tournament carefully using state-of-the-art statistical methods and we consider a lot of information in doing so.”
Their predictions have not come true in the past also so nothing anything is possible. the firm admitted that the predictions are uncertain as football is a highly unpredictable game. Only time will tell who lifts the trophy at the end of a month full of action. Till then enjoy the beautiful game!
