The UEFA Champions League (UCL) has never failed to come up with surprises and that is exactly the reason why it is one of the most watched sports events in the world. Today, in the crucial round of 16 second leg tie, English giants Manchester United took on Sevilla at old Trafford having drawn the first leg 0-0.

United supporters were left frustrated a few days back when their team failed to net an important away goal in the first leg of the tie. However, it was United’s in from goalkeeper David de Gea who helped them draw the match last time around as he pulled off some outstanding saves in the game.

The Red Devils went into the second leg with their hopes high but things always don’t turn out the way you want it to. A confident Manchester United side which came out on top against Liverpool last week failed to qualify for the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League after being beaten by Sevilla 2-1 at home.

It was Sevilla’s Wissam Ben Yedder who struck twice in the second half as Jose Mourinho got his tactics horribly wrong. Romelu Lukaku rescued a goal in the dying moments of the game but it was a bit too late for the men in red. Mourinho’s tactics were questioned after the shameful result as he decided to go with Fellaini instead of Pogba in an important match like this. Each and every player underperformed for the Devils including goalkeeper David de Gea who was highly responsible for Sevilla scoring the second goal.

Manchester United becomes the second English team to bow out of the Champions League this year after Spurs were shown the exit door by Juventus. Tomorrow English Champions Chelsea take on Barcelona at the Camp Nou which is said to be the game to watch out for. The tie is nicely poised at 1-1 and both teams would go into the match with only one aim and that is to win.
