Diego Maradona goes nuts during Argentina-Nigeria clash, had to be admitted to the hospital post match
It was a dramatic night at Russia yesterday when Argentina successfully defeated Nigeria to progress to the knockout stages of the FIFA World Cup. Jorge Sampaoli’s men made it difficult for themselves having picked up just 1 point from their first two group games which includes a humiliating loss to Croatia. But the team came back in emphatic fashion with Lionel Messi and Marcos Rojo on the scoresheet seeing off tough competition from the Super Eagles.
Argentina took the lead on the 14th-minute mark through none other than Lionel Messi and it was a goal of the highest calibre. Each and every one on this planet went berserk when the little magician found the net and even Diego Maradona could not control himself. The 1986 World Cup winner went completely crazy and celebrated like a 14-year-old from the stands as if he himself scored the opener.
Nigeria found their equalizer in the second half and it left Argentina searching for the winning goal which eventually came in the 86th minute from Manchester United centre-back Marcos Rojo. Maradona once again lost it and was up on his feet to celebrate the winner this time flicking his middle finger to the crowd.
The former Argentine coach did a bit of damage to himself after he celebrated the victory of his nation wildly. He was seen helped by a well-known sports journalist in Mexico to an adjacent room as he struggled to walk properly. However, Maradona was treated for low blood pressure in the stadium and was able to leave the stadium normally afterwards.

According to the Argentine website of sports broadcaster ESPN, Maradona was taken to the hospital but other Argentine media labelled it as only a scare. The left-footed genius has battled cocaine addiction in the past and underwent a gastric bypass operation in 2015.
