AB De Villiers picks the name for his third child and it reveals his love for India
Abraham Benjamin de Villiers commonly known as AB De Villiers is one of the most destructive batsmen the world has ever seen. Apart from being a brilliant entertainer, the famous name is among those cricketers who have been a household name in India. His presence in the Indian Premier League for almost a decade has earned him as much love and respect just like Virat Kohli and M.S. Dhoni or any other Indian cricketer. He too has his bond strong with the Indian culture.
Now, as AB also loves to be in India and follow the Indian culture, the cricketer wishes to name his third child ‘Taj’. Back in IPL 2012, AB proposed his now wife at Taj Mahal so therefore the historic place holds a special place in his life as some of the most beautiful memories of his life were created at Taj.
AB had arranged a trip to Taj Mahal with his then-girlfriend Danielle. The couple drove from Delhi to Agra. The Proteas batsman then proposed her for marriage in the most romantic way possible. AB de Villiers and wife Danielle were blessed with their first child in 2015. They named their son AB Junior. Then in 2017, their second boy was born and the couple named him John Richard.
In one of the interviews, AB De Villiers said that he expressed this wish after listening to the story of Jonty Rhodes naming his daughter ‘India’. He first came up with a naming option as ‘Karnataka’ but later changed it to Taj, stating that it would be a strong name for a boy.
We are all aware of Jonty Rhodes love for India as he named his daughter, who was born during IPL season 8 in Mumbai, after the country. The South African cricketer was blessed with a second child in Mumbai, India.
Recently, AB took his wife Danielle and son Abraham on an auto ride on the streets of Bengaluru. A video of the trio went viral. The video shows South Africa star and his family on a “tuk-tuk ride” and some “fans” following the auto-rickshaw desperately wanting to steal a glance.
