Oscars 2018: Proud moment for Indian Cinema as Sridevi and Shashi Kapoor gets honoured In The ‘In Memorium’ Tribute

Shashi Kapoor and Sridevi Kapoor were honoured at the 90th Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles during the “In Memoriam” montage.

The Indian stars got a musical tribute by Eddie Vedder (American musician) who took the stage to sing Tom Petty’s “Room at the top”.

Bollywood has lost two wonderful actors in the last few months, Sridevi passed away on 24th February and Sashi Kapoor took his last breath on 4th December 2017.

Shashi Kapoor, the romantic screen icon of the 1970s and early 1980s, died at the age of 79. He was known to be ill for a long time and was suffering with a deadly disease. The actor had been in and out of hospitals for treatment of a chronic kidney disease and was on dialysis.

A lot of speculations have been created about Sridevi’s death but what we all know for sure is about the time she was living. Sridevi made her Bollywood debut in 1978 with the movie Solva Sawan. But it was only after five years, when she did the film Himmatwala, did she gain commercial success. She was one of the most renowned actresses in Bollywood.

Bollywood has been mourning for them and now it seems that these wonderful actors left a mark outside the screens of Indian Television, leaving people all over the world saddened by their demise.

A lot of people noticed the tribute and replied to it. Rishi Kapoor tweeted “Oscars. Thank you for remembering Shashi Kapoor and Sridevi. Thrilled to see the name Raj Kapoor as the executive producer of the show. We are on the threshold of world cinema!”

Other actors like Varun Dhawan, Vidya Balan, Karan Tacker also showed their appreciation for this effort. Fans were touched by thi gesture too.

Actress Jennifer Garner introduced the segment by paying tribute to late star Audrey Hepburn. “There is no joy without sorrow,” Garner said, and then acknowledged the loss of film world with the departed souls.
