Rohit Sharma led team India faltered badly in the absence of Virat Kohli in the first One Day International against Sri Lanka as they were bundled out for a low score of 112. MS Dhoni was the lone warrior for team India but his efforts were not enough to hand India the win in the opening encounter.
It was obvious that team India would be hungry for a win in the second match and specially Rohit Sharma. And guess what? Sharma just delivered a world class performance with the willow. He made his intentions clear right from the start of the innings in the second One Day International and meant business.
The right handed batter hit the ball all round the park and brought up his 3rd double century in One Day Cricket which is quite a thing to be proud of. He is now only the second player in the history of One Day cricket to hit a double century as a captain after Virender Sehwag. He is now, with this double century, the player with the highest number of double centuries as far as the shorter version of the game is concerned.
Sharma’s innings of 208 runs from just 153 deliveries was outstanding as he portrayed an excellent array of shots seeing away both pace and spin. The 30 year old made the Sri Lankan bowling which destroyed the Indian batters in the first ODI, look exceptionally easy to deal with as he hit 12 sixes and 13 fours. Rohit brought up the second 100 runs in just 35 balls which says a lot about the humiliation the Sri Lankan bowlers had to go through.
However he was well supported at the other end by Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer who scored 68 and 88 respectively. India finished with a huge score of 392 in 50 overs and Sri Lanka now need something really miraculous to turn this match in their favour.

Got to feel for SL. Got caught in the jaws of Rohit Sharma. Anyone else, there would have been some respite. #IndvSL

Not one, not two but three double centuries in ODI cricket. You made batting look easy and simple in this innings, @ImRo45. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Keep them coming always.👌✌️💪#IndvsSri #BCCI pic.twitter.com/yrb2chCK8U
