K3G turns 16: Here are 5 ways in which Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham showed us the truth of life

It’s been 38 years of Dharma Productions and there is absolutely no doubt about the number of most relatable movies it has bless Bollywood with. Founded by Yash Johar, after his death back in 2004, his son, Karan Johar took over Dharma Productions and as of 2017, it has produced 43 films including Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dostana, Wake Up Sid, My Name is Khan and many more.

Most them are coming-age-romantic films, but there was one film which made us realize that if you are insecure about anything at your young age, that insecurity will change you into a hot-shot in your 20s! This film is the perfect blend of family-drama, love, sarcasm and laughs. Today, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham or ‘K3G’ as we call it, turns 16. Accept it, that whenever you watch this film, it’s always new to you and there is really nothing you can hate about this film.

Here are few ways in which Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham portrayed the truth of life:

1. The rich cannot accept the poor till date

Remember the scene where Rahul (SRK) married Anjali (Kajol) against his father’s wishes? Then the 7 minutes drama where Rahul promised that he won’t come back to the Raichand House anymore. That is one of our favourite climax scene! Mr.Raichand (Amitabh Bachchan) underestimated Anjali that she can’t learn the culture and ethics of the rich class of the society but we did see Anjali blend perfectly in the rich class after 10 years, didn’t we?
Well Mr.Raichand, Anjali did understand all the ‘riti’, ‘riwaaj’, ‘sanskriti’ and ‘sanskar’ pretty nicely!

2. No matter how ugly you are, if you have money you will get sorted by your mid twenties

We are still in a dilemma about how did ‘young’ Hrithik Roshan, who was so healthy and fat in school turned out to be a hot-shot in college! Like, WHAT? Boarding school definitely did wonders, we must say. Taking the example of the real world, we all know how Arjun Kapoor looked like when he was young. And oh boy, how does he look now? Thanks to the cash, of course.

3. Every class has a ‘Poo’ who has two ‘chamchas’ who follow and obey her like Hindus follow the Gita

Poo, played by the gorgeous Kareena Kapoor Khan was an absolute bomb in K3G. She was definitely P.H.A.T- Pretty. Hot. And. Tempting and she doesn’t wait for *Christmas* to try anything interesting. Her character in college is something we have all witnessed during our high school or college day and is relatable as fuck.

4. Homecomings are always special

After K3G, we all had this concept in our minds that even if we are 5 kms away from home, our mothers are going to understand that we are heading back home and they are going to wait and welcome us from 10 minutes before we reach. Accept it! However, K3G definitely made homecomings look special and we love our mothers for whatever sacrifices, scolding and love they portray. They are the BEST!

5. The typical Chandni Chowk girl

Talk about or just a hint about celebration in the locality and Anjali is there. From dancing on the beats of the drums to making her father her superman, we saw all the fun sides of Kajol in K3G.

The accent, the lame jokes, the i-do-not-fucking-care way of talking were perfectly instilled by Karan Johar in Anjali and Kajol pulled off a masterstroke.
